Amidst the recent escalation in fuel prices, Shashi Welgama, the Chairman of the National Transport Commission (NTC), has affirmed that there will be no parallel increase in bus fares.

In a statement released today, Welgama clarified that despite the current cost of diesel soaring to Rs. 358 per liter, commuters can expect bus fares to remain unaffected.

This assurance comes on the heels of fuel price hikes implemented earlier today by key players, including Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO), LIOC, and Sinopec. The Chairman's commitment to maintaining stable bus fares aims to alleviate concerns among the public regarding the potential ripple effects of rising fuel costs on transportation expenses.
