Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided to revamp the coaching positions for the national men's squad gearing up for the upcoming Zimbabwe tour of Sri Lanka.
The changes include the appointment of former Sri Lankan T20 international captain Thilina Kandamby as the batting coach, bringing in his wealth of experience to bolster the team's performance in the upcoming tournament.
In addition, sources reveal that former Sri Lankan cricketer Upul Chandana will take on the role of the fielding coach for the series, contributing his expertise to enhance the team's overall skills on the field.
As the cricketing spotlight turns towards the impending white-ball assignments against Zimbabwe, commencing on January 6, Sri Lanka has unveiled its preliminary squads.
Notably, spin-bowling all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who faced a setback due to an injury during the Lanka Premier League in August, is poised to make a triumphant comeback. Hasaranga is not only set to rejoin the squad but has also been entrusted with the captaincy for the T20I side during the upcoming series. Charith Asalanka will serve as his deputy in T20Is, while in ODIs, Kusal Mendis will lead the side, with Asalanka assuming the role of vice-captain.
The anticipated clash between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will unfold through three ODIs followed by an equal number of T20Is, all slated to take place at the iconic R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo throughout the month of January.
