An accomplice of the underworld figure Heenatiyana Mahesh, who was plotting a murder, has been arrested by the Katunayake Police following a raid as part of the 'Yukthiya' operation.
When the police arrested the suspect, he was found with a 9MM-type pistol and several rounds of live bullets.
After further questioning by the police, it was revealed that he was an accomplice of Heenatiyana Mahesh and had undertaken a contract to carry out the murders of two businessmen.
The raid was conducted under the direction of Acting IGP Deshabandhu Tennkoon and the supervision of Negombo SSP Anuruddha Bandaranaike.
