At least five individuals who participated in a protest in front of the American Embassy in Sri Lanka have been arrested by the police.

The protest, organized by the "People's Struggle Movement," was aimed at expressing opposition to the United States of America's support for Israel in the Israeli-Palestinian conflicts.

The Kollupitiya Police took the five individuals into custody when a group of protesters attempted to burn a photograph of the U.S. President, leading to a tumultuous situation.

Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that the detained protesters are currently held at the Kollupitiya Police Station.
