President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has officially launched the website of the ‘Ratama Ekata’ national operation aimed at eradicating the drug menace from Sri Lanka.

The website, www.1818.gov.lk, was officially launched under the President’s patronage during the interfaith conference held to mark one year of the campaign under the theme “A Year of Standing Together – One-Year Review of the Operation to Move Away from Drugs”.

The event was attended by members of the Maha Sangha and other religious leaders, ministers, parliamentarians and senior security officials.

The primary objective of the website is to establish a formal mechanism for the public to provide and obtain information to help combat drug networks operating both within Sri Lanka and internationally.

Covering all 25 districts of the country, the platform allows members of the public to report suspected drug trafficking activities directly to the relevant authorities, either by disclosing their identities or anonymously, while ensuring confidentiality.

The public can also provide information through the 24-hour hotline 1818. In addition, the 1927 hotline has been linked to the platform to direct individuals affected by drug addiction towards rehabilitation and counselling services.

The website also provides official statistics on drug raids conducted by security forces across the country, suspects arrested and quantities of drugs seized, along with updates on the progress of rehabilitation programmes.

These details are accessible to the public in all three languages: Sinhala, Tamil and English.
