Uzbekistan-based airline Centrum Air launched scheduled direct flights between Tashkent and Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) on October 28, 2026, establishing a new air link between Sri Lanka and Central Asia.
The new service is expected to boost Sri Lanka’s tourism industry while strengthening air connectivity and travel opportunities between Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan.
Passengers arriving from Uzbekistan on the inaugural service were warmly welcomed upon their arrival at Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport.
Centrum Air plans to operate flights on the route twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, throughout the 2026–2027 tourism season.
The new connection is expected to facilitate travel between the two countries, attract more visitors to Sri Lanka and strengthen business and tourism ties with Uzbekistan.
Royal Spence Aviation, a subsidiary of Aitken Spence PLC, has been appointed as Centrum Air’s General Sales Agent (GSA) and airport supervision agent in Sri Lanka.
