Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in which a group travelling in a three-wheeler was allegedly fired upon by another group travelling in a car in the Halpathota area of Baddegama.
The shooting occurred on September 27, 2026, prompting the Elpitiya Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau to launch an investigation into the incident.
According to Police, the three suspects were arrested yesterday (27) afternoon in the Pedruwatta junction area and Halpathota in Baddegama for allegedly aiding and abetting the crime.
Police also recovered 16.17 grams of heroin and a car from the possession of the suspects.
The suspects, aged between 22 and 33, are residents of Kahawatta, Pallebedda and Hikkaduwa, Police said.
They are due to be produced before the Baddegama Magistrate’s Court, while the Baddegama Police are conducting further investigations.
