The Colombo High Court today ordered that a case filed against former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son Yoshitha Rajapaksa and his grandmother Daisy Forrest under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act be called for a pre-trial conference on November 3.
The case was taken up before the Colombo High Court today (28), with Yoshitha Rajapaksa appearing before court.
The second accused, Daisy Forrest, was not present in court. President’s Counsel Anil Silva, appearing on her behalf, submitted a medical report to court explaining her absence.
After considering the submissions, the judge ordered that the case be called on November 3 for a pre-trial conference.
The Attorney General filed the case against Yoshitha Rajapaksa and Daisy Forrest, alleging that they committed an offence under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act by depositing nearly Rs. 57 million in three bank accounts, which was allegedly acquired through unlawful means.
