Energy Minister Anura Karunathilaka says a total of 1,513 MW of solar power capacity has been added to Sri Lanka’s national grid from last year through August 2026.
Off this, 1,141.1 MW was generated through rooftop solar systems. This includes 938.8 MW added last year and a further 202.3 MW added up to August 2026.
Meanwhile, 370 MW was added through ground-mounted solar projects, with 177.2 MW added last year and another 193.4 MW added up to August this year.
The figures highlight the continued expansion of solar power as part of Sri Lanka’s renewable energy development.
