Investigations into the case filed against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe under the Public Property Act have been concluded, the Attorney General’s Department informed Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena today (30).
Government Counsel Samadari Piyasena told court that the case file had been forwarded to the Attorney General for further advice.
Accordingly, the prosecution requested that a future date be fixed to inform the court of its position.
After considering the submissions, the Magistrate postponed the case until November 11 to obtain the Attorney General’s advice.
The complaint was filed over allegations that Wickremesinghe misused public funds to travel to London while serving as President to attend a graduation ceremony of his wife, Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe.
