Thousands of people reported faced issues accessing Facebook ,but the issue seemed to resolve after about an hour.
Thousands of people reported having issues accessing Facebook on Sunday evening, according to Downdetector.
There were more than 17,400 reports as of 9:15 p.m. ET, according to the outage website. Reports began declining around 9:45 p.m. ET.
Most of the reports said they had issues accessing the Facebook website, which is stuck on the Facebook logo and will not load further. Some pages are just white screens and will not load.
About 12% of reports said the app was having login issues as well.
Downdetector's outage map showed most of the reports coming from New York, New York; Los Angeles and San Francisco, California; Dallas, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia, and Florida. Reports online and through other media said the outage also impacted users in Mexico, Europe and Asia.
About an hour after reports started coming in, some users reported the website working as intended.
There were also a few thousand reports of Instagram, also owned by Facebook's parent company Meta, being down around the same time. Issues on both apps seem to be resolved as of 9:50 p.m. ET.
