The water supply interruption affecting Colombo and several surrounding areas has been extended until 11.30 p.m. today (04), the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced.

The interruption, which was initially scheduled to continue until 8.00 p.m., has been extended due to essential maintenance work being carried out at the Ambatale Water Treatment Plant.

The affected areas include Nugegoda, Kohuwala, Dehiwala, Mount Lavinia, Ratmalana, Moratuwa, Rawathawatta, Soyzapura, Angulana, Indibedda, Katubedda, Kaludewella, Modara, Koralawella, Egoda Uyana and Katukurunda.

The interruption will also affect Sethsiripaya, Himbutana, Udumulla Road, Maligagodella, Bank Junction Road, W.A. Silva Mawatha, Havelock Road, Kalyani Road, Colombo 06, Hospital Roundabout Road, Jayanthi Mawatha and Shanthi Mawatha.

The NWSDB has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to consumers due to the extension and urged the public to use water sparingly during the affected period.
