The Supreme Court today (02) concluded the consideration of petitions filed challenging the 22nd Amendment Bill to the Constitution, which was recently presented to Parliament by the Government.

Following the conclusion of the hearings, the Supreme Court stated that its confidential determination on the constitutionality of the Bill would be communicated to the Speaker of Parliament.

The order was issued by a five-member Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena.

The bench considered the petitions filed against the Bill, along with submissions made by lawyers representing the petitioners, parties supporting the Bill, and the Attorney General.
