The final rites of veteran Sri Lankan singer and actor Priyankara Perera will be held tomorrow (September 3), according to his family.
His remains will be brought to a private funeral parlour in Borella this afternoon (September 2), where the public, friends and well-wishers will have the opportunity to pay their final respects.
Perera, who had been receiving treatment for an illness for some time, passed away last night while undergoing treatment at the Colombo National Hospital. He was 64.
The son of renowned veteran singer J.A. Milton Perera, Priyankara Perera was a popular figure in Sri Lankan music, having performed numerous well-known songs during his career. He also established himself as an actor, earning recognition in the local entertainment industry.
His death marks the loss of a familiar and respected voice in Sri Lankan music and entertainment.
