Deputy Minister of Defence Major General (Retd.) Aruna Jayasekara said that steps are being taken to introduce regulations for private security services operating in Sri Lanka.
Speaking on the matter, Jayasekara said a draft bill containing the necessary legal amendments is expected to be presented to Parliament within the next few months.
He said the proposed legislation is aimed at establishing a proper regulatory framework for private security services in the country.
The Deputy Minister added that the Ministry of Defence will seek the assistance of the Attorney General’s Department, the Department of Labour and the Police in preparing the necessary legal framework.
