Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it has attacked US bases in Jordan after US forces bombed two rocket launchers on Iran’s Larak Island.
The IRGC says the US attack on Larak Island killed and wounded several Iranian fighters and civilians, according to Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB. Aljazeera reported.
Centcom says US forces bombed the IRGC launchers because it believed they were preparing to launch naval mines, “posing an imminent threat in the Strait of Hormuz”.
Jordan’s military says it intercepted eight missiles that entered the country’s airspace on Monday, state media reported.
At least seven people were injured in the occupied West Bank village of al-Mughayyir, most by live ammunition, during a raid by Israeli settlers and soldiers. Residents say the village entrance has been shut off.
US Central Command has said that Washington “took limited, precise action against IRGC minelaying forces posing an imminent threat in the Strait of Hormuz,” in its attack on Iran’s Larak Island.
“In essence, Iran created the threat, and the US military eliminated it to protect civilian mariners, commercial shipping, and the free flow of global commerce,” the Central Command said in a statement posted on X.
The Central Command denied the Iranian statement that the strikes were “an act of aggression” by Washington.
