Traffic restrictions will be imposed on several roads in the Boralesgamuwa Police Division due to the Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya Esala Maha Perahera, the Police Media Division said.
The restrictions will be implemented on August 13, 14 and 15 as the perahera proceeds along designated routes.
The Pawada Perahera will be held on August 13 from 7.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. During this period, traffic on the 119 Maharagama–Dehiwala bus route will be restricted at the Boralesgamuwa town and Bellanthara Junction.
Vehicles travelling from Maharagama towards Dehiwala, as well as those travelling from Piliyandala towards Dehiwala, can use an alternative route via Papiliyana Junction, turning left through the Spar Roundabout towards Bellanthara and continuing through Nedimala to Dehiwala.
Motorists can also access Galle Road by using the alternative route from Werahera Junction, which connects Boralesgamuwa and Galle Road, via Gangarama Road towards Golumadama Junction.
The Ransiwali Perahera will be held on August 14 from 8.00 p.m. until 2.00 a.m. the following day. The procession will enter the 119 Maharagama–Dehiwala bus route, proceed towards Bellanthara Junction, turn right at the junction leading to Somarathna Mawatha, and continue along Somarathna Mawatha and Vihara Mawatha before returning to Bellanwila Temple.
Accordingly, traffic will be restricted on the 119 bus route between Boralesgamuwa Junction and Bellanthara Junction during the procession.
Vehicles travelling from Dehiwala towards Maharagama can turn left at Bellanthara Junction, proceed along Route 117 to Papiliyana Junction, and then turn right towards Boralesgamuwa Junction.
Heavy vehicles travelling from Maharagama towards Dehiwala can turn right at Boralesgamuwa Junction, proceed to Papiliyana Junction, turn left onto Route 117 and continue towards Bellanthara Junction. Alternatively, they can turn left at Boralesgamuwa Junction, proceed to Piliyandala Junction, turn right onto the Katubedda Road and access Galle Road.
Light vehicles travelling from Maharagama towards Dehiwala can proceed up to the junction leading to Malini Bulathsinhala Road, turn left onto Pita Wella Road and continue via Kahawita Mawatha to Route 117.
The Randoli Maha Perahera will take place on August 15 from 8.00 p.m. until 4.00 a.m. the following day.
During this period, traffic will be restricted at Boralesgamuwa Junction, Bellanthara Junction and Nedimala Junction, as well as along Route 117 between the Police Training College Junction in Attidiya and Papiliyana Junction.
Vehicles travelling from Maharagama and Piliyandala towards Dehiwala can proceed to Kohuwala Junction, turn left onto the Kohuwala–Kalubowila Road and access Galle Road towards Dehiwala.
Vehicles travelling from Mount Lavinia and Ratmalana towards Maharagama and Boralesgamuwa can turn left at Attidiya Bakery Junction, access Galle Road, proceed towards Kohuwala via the Dehiwala William Grinding Mills area, and turn right towards Boralesgamuwa and Maharagama.
Vehicles travelling from Dehiwala towards Papiliyana can turn onto Anderson Road at Nedimala Junction, turn left and proceed to Kohuwala Junction before continuing towards Colombo, Boralesgamuwa and Nugegoda.
Heavy vehicles travelling from Horana, Piliyandala, Kesbewa and Maharagama towards Galle Road can proceed to Kohuwala Junction, turn left onto the Kohuwala–Kalubowila Road and access Galle Road.
Heavy vehicles travelling from Colombo towards Papiliyana Junction or Galle Road via Boralesgamuwa Junction should proceed to Piliyandala Junction, turn right onto Katubedda Road and access Galle Road at Katubedda Junction before continuing towards Ratmalana, Mount Lavinia, Moratuwa and Panadura.
Motorists are advised to use the designated alternative routes and plan their journeys accordingly during the perahera period.
