Special transport services introduced for A/L Exam candidates

Special transportation services have been put in place from today to assist candidates sitting for the 2026 GCE Advanced Level Examination.

Director General of the National Transport Commission, Dr. Nilan Miranda, said approximately 1,700 Sisu Seriya buses have been deployed to support students travelling to examination centres.

The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has also instructed officials to give priority to school bus services throughout the examination period. The SLTB said measures have been taken to ensure that these services operate continuously until the examinations conclude.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Railways has announced that trains will operate according to their regular timetables throughout the examination period, with no cancellations planned.

The railway authorities have also temporarily suspended track maintenance work that was scheduled to take place on Saturdays during the examination period, in order to ensure uninterrupted rail services for students and the public.

Authorities have urged transport officials to maintain reliable services and provide necessary assistance to candidates travelling to and from examination centres.
