The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber Advisory warning of strong winds affecting sea areas off the coasts extending from the North-central, North-western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces, as well as the Trincomalee District.
The advisory, issued today (August 2), will remain in effect until 11:30 a.m. tomorrow (August 3).
According to the Meteorology Department, strong winds of 40–50 km/h can be expected at times over the affected coastal areas during the advisory period.
Authorities have advised the fishing and maritime communities, along with those engaged in sea-related activities, to exercise caution due to the prevailing windy conditions. The public is urged to stay updated with official weather forecasts and follow instructions issued by relevant authorities.
