Due to the active Southwest monsoon, the prevailing rainy and windy conditions over the southwestern parts of the island will continue today.
Showers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. Heavy falls above 100 mm are likely at some places.
A few showers may occur in Matale, Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts.
Mainly dry weather will prevail over the other areas of the island.
Strong winds of about (40-50) kmph can be expected at times over Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Northern, North-central, Central and North-western provinces and in Monaragala and Trincomalee districts.

Condition of Rain:
Showers will occur at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Matara via Colombo and Galle.
Winds:
Winds will be south-westerly. Wind speed will be (30-40) kmph.
Wind speed can increase up to (60-70) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil via Mannar, Colombo, Galle and Hambanthota.
Wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Trincomalee to Kankasanthurai via Mullaittivu.
State of Sea:
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil via Mannar, Colombo, Galle and Hambanthota will be very rough at times. Naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture into these sea areas, until further notice.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Trincomalee to Kankasanthurai via Mullaittivu will be rough at times. The naval and fishing communities who are engaged in fishing and naval activities in the above sea areas are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
The wave height may increase about (2.5 – 3.0) meters in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
