Outgoing Sri Lanka Army Commander Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo has been promoted to the rank of General in recognition of his distinguished military service, leadership, and contribution to the nation.

The promotion was conferred by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, according to an official announcement issued by the Sri Lanka Army.

The elevation marks a significant milestone in General Rodrigo's military career, placing him among the senior-most officers in the history of the Sri Lanka Army.

The Army stated that the promotion recognizes General Rodrigo's exceptional leadership, exemplary service, and unwavering dedication to both the Army and the country.
