The Department of Meteorology has issued a heat advisory for the Eastern Province and the districts of Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Polonnaruwa, and Monaragala.
According to the advisory, the heat index representing the temperature felt by the human body is expected to reach the "Caution" level in some areas of the Eastern Province and the districts of Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Polonnaruwa, and Monaragala during the daytime.
The public is advised to stay well hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day.
