The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) ended yesterday’s trading session (23) on a slightly positive note, with key market indices recording marginal gains despite remaining below year-to-date levels.

The All Share Price Index (ASPI) increased by 49.81 points to close at 21,199.37. However, the index remained 6.30% lower compared to the beginning of the year. Meanwhile, the S&P SL20 Index advanced by 13.25 points to finish at 5,945.87.

Market capitalisation rose by 0.14% during the session, reaching Rs 7,684.76 billion.

Foreign purchases amounted to Rs 124.8 million, while foreign sales totalled Rs 313.5 million, accounting for 20.3% of the day’s total market turnover.

The market’s modest recovery reflected selective buying interest among investors, although foreign selling pressure continued to weigh on overall sentiment.
