The Department of Railways has announced that the train service between Colombo Fort and Talaimannar has resumed operations from today (July 24), following the completion of restoration work on the railway line.
The service had been suspended after the railway track sustained significant damage due to the severe weather conditions caused by Cyclone Fengal last year. Restoration work was carried out to repair the affected section of the line.
With the rehabilitation now completed, the daily train service between Colombo Fort and Talaimannar has officially resumed in both directions.
The train departed from Colombo Fort at 3:50 p.m. today (July 24) and is scheduled to travel to Talaimannar. The return service will depart from Talaimannar at 4:10 a.m. on July 25, arriving back at Colombo Fort.
The train includes two air-conditioned first-class coaches with reserved seating. Passengers can reserve seats through the railway's seat reservation system or by visiting railway stations offering reservation services.
