Vietnam's leading low-cost airline, VietJet, has launched its first direct flight service between Colombo and Ho Chi Minh City, Sri Lanka's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
The new route will operate three times a week, marking a significant step in strengthening tourism, trade, and economic ties between Sri Lanka and Vietnam. The direct connection is also expected to improve travel convenience for Sri Lankan passengers, providing easier access to destinations across East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australia via Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition to boosting air connectivity, both countries plan to collaborate on introducing new tourism packages focused on religious, cultural, wellness, and adventure travel. The initiative is expected to enhance bilateral cooperation and encourage greater tourist exchanges between Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
