The NDCU said that as of July 16, a total of 73,455 dengue cases and 50 dengue-related deaths had been reported across the country.

A total of 1,025 new cases were reported on July 16 alone.

The Western Province continues to report the highest number of infections, with 38,700 cases recorded to date. Within the province, the Gampaha District has reported the highest number of cases at 15,341, followed by the Colombo District with 14,625 cases.

Meanwhile, 18,076 dengue cases have been reported during the first 16 days of July, reflecting a significant rise in infections.

According to the NDCU, June recorded the highest monthly total so far this year, with 21,538 dengue cases reported nationwide.

Health authorities continue to urge the public to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and seek immediate medical attention if dengue symptoms develop.
