A few showers may occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Negombo to Galle via Colombo.
South-westerly winds will prevail over the surrounding sea areas. Wind speeds of 40–50 km/h, increasing up to 50–60 km/h at times, are expected in the sea areas from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota. Elsewhere, winds will range between 30–40 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 50 km/h at times.
Sea conditions are expected to be rough at times in the waters extending from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota. Other surrounding sea areas may become fairly rough.
Wave heights are forecast to increase to around 2.0–2.5 metres in the sea areas stretching from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota.
Authorities advise fishermen and those engaged in maritime activities to exercise caution due to strong winds, rough seas, and elevated wave heights.
