Negombo Municipal Council Mayor Robert Heenkenda has resigned from his position, according to reports.
Heenkenda, who represents the National People’s Power (NPP), is reported to have stepped down due to personal reasons.
The Mayor had previously indicated on several occasions that he intended to resign but had later decided to remain in office.
However, it is reported that he officially submitted his resignation today (15), bringing his tenure as Mayor of the Negombo Municipal Council to an end.
