The probability of a super El Niño developing during the October–December period has increased to 81%, according to Sri Lanka's Department of Meteorology.

Director General Ajith Wijemanna said international forecasts indicate the climate pattern is strengthening, with early impacts already visible through below-normal southwest monsoon rainfall and higher daytime temperatures.

The public has been advised to stay alert and follow official weather forecasts and advisories in the coming months.
