Deputy Minister Eranga Gunasekara has called on young people to join the public service, stating that although the government has assumed office, it has yet to fully establish its influence across the state administrative system.

Addressing a public gathering, Gunasekara said the government expects its policies to be implemented effectively at every level of the public administration, including by Grama Niladharis, Divisional Secretaries and District Secretaries.

He stressed that greater youth participation in the state sector would help strengthen the public service and improve the implementation of government programmes.

The Deputy Minister also claimed that while opposition parties had been defeated at elections, they continued to remain politically active. He alleged that these groups were attempting to regain political influence and urged government supporters to ensure they are defeated politically in future electoral contests.
