The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has authorised schools to permit students to wear clothing that offers greater protection against mosquito bites as part of efforts to minimise the spread of dengue.
In a statement, the Ministry said school principals have been instructed to allow students to wear appropriate attire that covers their arms and legs in addition to the prescribed school uniform.
Principals have also been advised to educate students on the proper use of approved mosquito repellents that meet the required safety standards.
The Ministry said the measures have been introduced to enhance the protection of schoolchildren from dengue-carrying mosquitoes and reduce the risk of infection.
