The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced that the cut-off marks for university admissions based on the latest G.C.E. Advanced Level examination will be released during the first week of next month.

UGC Vice-Chairman Professor Wasantha Liyanage stated that a total of 92,043 applications were received for university admission this year. Of those applicants, 42,937 students are expected to secure admission to state universities.

Professor Liyanage also revealed that the UGC is preparing to introduce several new degree programmes as part of efforts to expand and modernize higher education opportunities.

Meanwhile, academic activities at all state universities are scheduled to commence in September, marking the start of the new academic year for successful applicants.

The release of the admission cut-off marks will enable thousands of Advanced Level candidates to determine their eligibility for university entrance and make the necessary preparations for the upcoming academic year.
