The advisory was issued at 5.00 p.m. today (11) by the Natural Disaster Early Warning Centre of the Department of Meteorology and will remain valid for tomorrow (12).
The warning applies to the districts of Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Batticaloa, Ampara, Trincomalee, and Moneragala.
According to the advisory, some areas within these districts may experience a heat index the temperature felt by the human body reaching a level that requires public attention during daytime hours.
Authorities have advised residents in the affected areas to take necessary precautions against heat-related impacts.
