Sri Lanka has welcomed nearly 1.2 million tourists so far in 2026, according to Deputy Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe.
Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo, the Deputy Minister said the country's tourism industry has generated more than US$1.5 billion in foreign exchange earnings during the year to date, reflecting the sector's continued recovery and growth.
Ranasinghe noted that the positive momentum in Sri Lanka's tourism sector has strengthened confidence that the country will achieve its target of 2.5 million tourist arrivals by the end of 2026.
The government remains optimistic that sustained growth in visitor numbers and tourism revenue will continue to support Sri Lanka's economic recovery and enhance the country's position as a leading travel destination in the region.
