Japan is prepared to recruit 1,000 Sri Lankan truck drivers immediately under an existing bilateral agreement, provided applicants meet the required Japanese language qualifications, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Vijitha Herath said.
The Minister stated that the employment opportunities are already available and that recruitment could begin without delay if suitably qualified candidates come forward.
He explained that applicants must have either passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N4 or the Japan Foundation Test (JFT), which certify the level of Japanese language proficiency required for the positions.
Minister Herath invited eligible Sri Lankans to apply, noting that there are already 1,000 vacancies available for qualified truck drivers in Japan.
He added that once applicants meet the required language standard, they can be deployed to Japan immediately under the existing agreement between the two countries.
