The appointments were made during an official ceremony held at the Ministry of Health and Media, where letters of appointment were presented to newly designated directors of major hospitals and health institutions, including Castle Street Hospital for Women, De Soysa Hospital for Women, Mahamodara Teaching Hospital, National Eye Hospital, and Matara General Hospital.
Among the newly appointed institutional heads are Dr. S.D.U.M. Ranga as Director of Castle Street Hospital for Women, Dr. C. Perera as Director of De Soysa Maternity (Teaching) Hospital, Dr. K.M. Somaratne as Director of Mahamodara Teaching Hospital, Dr. B.I. Kurukulasuriya as Director of the National Eye Hospital, and Dr. J.P. Ranasinghe as Director of Matara General Hospital.
Several provincial and regional health officials were also appointed, including new Provincial Directors of Health Services for Sabaragamuwa and Eastern provinces, as well as Regional Directors for Badulla, Puttalam, Kandy, Monaragala, and Kalutara.
Additional appointments included directors for Mental Health, the Anti-Malaria Campaign, the Anti-Leprosy Campaign, and the Food Control Administration Unit.
Addressing the newly appointed directors, Minister Jayatissa said the appointments marked an important step in improving healthcare administration. He urged them to convert the public mandate into effective public service and assured that the Ministry would provide operational independence without political interference.
Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Media, Specialist Dr. Anil Jasinghe, advised the new directors to prioritize transparent management, teamwork, and firm decision-making to improve healthcare institutions.
Senior ministry officials, including additional secretaries, deputy directors general, directors, and other officials, attended the ceremony.
