According to the NWSDB, the suspension is necessary to facilitate maintenance work at the Attanagalla Karasnagala Water Treatment Plant.
The water supply interruption will affect the areas of Minuwangoda, Asgiriya, Udugampola, Opatha and surrounding localities, as well as the Gampaha Municipal Council and Gampaha Pradeshiya Sabha areas. Water supply will also be suspended in Weliweriya, Balummahara, Rathupaswala and nearby areas.
In addition, residents in Maharagama, Sivuralumulla, Kirikitta, Kinigama, Etikehelgalla and surrounding areas within the Mahara Pradeshiya Sabha limits will experience the temporary disruption.
The NWSDB further stated that the water cut will impact the Ranpokunagama Housing Scheme, Urapola, Attanagalla, Bataleya, Watupitiwala and nearby areas. Water supply will also be interrupted in Nittambuwa, Veyangoda, Kalagedihena, Thihariya, Naiwala and surrounding localities.
The Board has advised consumers in the affected areas to make adequate arrangements in advance and use stored water sparingly during the period of the interruption.
Normal water supply is expected to resume gradually after the maintenance work is completed.
