The meeting was held at the UNP’s political headquarters in Colombo and was attended by the majority of Management Committee members, according to a party statement.

Committee members reviewed the current political landscape and discussed the party’s response to recent political developments. Attention was also given to the UNP’s ongoing restructuring efforts and strategies to strengthen the party’s grassroots network.

The meeting further examined future cooperation with other political parties, movements and civil organizations as part of the party’s broader political strategy.

Addressing the gathering, Wickremesinghe emphasized the need for unity in confronting future political challenges, stressing that such challenges should be addressed collectively rather than individually.

The Management Committee also reaffirmed its support for disciplinary action previously announced by the UNP General Secretary against several local government representatives accused of violating party rules and regulations.
