According to bus operators, the strike was triggered after an employee of a private bus running on the Moragahahena–Piliyandala route allegedly assaulted a staff member of a private bus operating on the Horana–Colombo route yesterday morning (09).
Operators claim that despite the incident being reported, the suspect has not yet been arrested. In response, private bus owners and employees on Route 120 launched a strike demanding immediate action from law enforcement.
As a result, all private buses on the Horana–Colombo route had withdrawn from service by approximately 10:20 a.m. today, causing significant inconvenience to commuters travelling between Horana and Colombo.
