The advisory covers sea areas extending from Trincomalee to Mullaitivu, Kankesanthurai, Mannar, Puttalam, Colombo, Galle, Hambantota, and Pottuvil.

According to the Department, wind speeds in the sea areas from Kankesanthurai to Mannar via Kalpitiya may increase intermittently to 60–70 kilometers per hour, creating rough sea conditions and potentially hazardous situations for marine activities.

Meanwhile, sea areas from Mannar to Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota via Pottuvil are expected to experience wave heights of approximately 2.0 to 2.5 meters. Authorities have also warned of the possibility of waves reaching coastal shorelines in areas stretching from Halawatha to Colombo, Galle, and Matara.

The Department of Meteorology has urged fishermen, boat operators, and members of the naval and maritime communities to remain alert and take all necessary precautions while operating at sea during the advisory period.

Officials continue to monitor the situation and have advised the public to stay updated with the latest weather information and follow guidance issued by relevant authorities.
