According to reports, the accident occurred after the bus lost control, veered off the road, and fell into a culvert.
The injured passengers, including 11 women and 15 men, were admitted to the Monaragala District General Hospital for treatment, according to local reports. A five-month-old infant was also among those injured in the accident.
The bus involved was operating on the Monaragala–Kotiyagala route at the time of the incident.
Police suspect that the accident may have occurred after the driver suffered a sudden illness while driving. Further investigations are currently underway.
