Issuing a special statement to the media, Ven. Bengamuwe Sri Dhammadinna Nayaka Thera said that several religious programmes will be held at the Sri Pada Upper Shrine on Vesak Poya Day.
The Chief Incumbent further stated that following the morning Buddha pooja on May 31, the sacred relic casket, along with a portion of the statues of God Saman that are currently enshrined at the Sri Pada Upper Shrine, will be carried in two separate processions along the Ratnapura–Palabaddala route and the Kuruwita–Erathna route to the Palmadulla Sri Pada Rajamaha Viharaya.
Another procession will commence after the afternoon Buddha pooja at the Sri Pada Upper Shrine and proceed towards Nallathanniya. Later in the evening, two additional processions will travel via the Nallathanniya–Bagawanthalawa–Balangoda route and through Lakshapana, Avissawella, and Ratnapura before reaching the Palmadulla Rajamaha Viharaya.
Ven. Bengamuwe Sri Dhammadinna Nayaka Thera also noted that the sacred relic casket, statues of God Saman, and sacred ornaments carried in the processions will remain at the temple until the next Sri Pada off-season concludes.
