According to the department, the warning applies to several areas in the Bulathsinhala, Madurawala, and Palinda Nuwara Divisional Secretariat divisions.
Officials stated that the upper catchment areas of the Kuda Ganga sub-basin of the Kalu River have received significant rainfall in recent hours, leading to rising water levels in the rivers.
Due to the prevailing weather conditions, there is a risk of inundation on access roads and low-lying areas located near the Kuda Ganga and Magura Ganga.
The Department of Irrigation has requested residents living in vulnerable areas and motorists traveling through these regions to remain vigilant and exercise caution until the situation improves.
