Police Media Spokesperson F.U. Wootler stated that strict legal action will be taken against individuals engaging in behaviour that violates the cultural and religious values associated with Vesak Week.
He noted that a comprehensive security and traffic management plan has been introduced covering all 25 administrative districts across the country.
According to the Police Media Spokesperson, officers in civilian clothing together with intelligence personnel have been deployed to provide security at religious locations, Vesak zones and areas surrounding dansals.
ASP Wootler further requested the public to report vehicles, motorcycles or three-wheelers being operated in a reckless, dangerous or disruptive manner.
Such complaints can be submitted via WhatsApp to 070-4755600 or through the emergency numbers 119 and 118, police said.
