According to investigations, the police officer is suspected of demanding Rs. 300,000 each to return the passports of several China nationals who were recently detained in the Rajagiriya area.
The suspect was arrested by the Colombo Central Crimes Investigation Division and later produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
Following submissions made before court, Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama ordered that the suspect be remanded until June 9.
