The individuals were arrested by UAE authorities for possessing photos and videos of drone and missile attacks related to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East region. Additionally, they had engaged with this content by liking and commenting on them on various social media platforms, which led to their detention by Abu Dhabi security forces.
The deported individuals are between the ages of 23 and 33. They have been identified as residents of Ambalangoda, Marapana, Borella, Bandaragama, Polonnaruwa, and Wattala.
Upon their arrival at the Katunayake airport, officers from the Airport Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the State Intelligence Service (SIS), and the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) immediately launched an extensive, joint interrogation of the suspects.
