The incident occurred at around 11:30 a.m. near a fuel filling station in the area. According to reports, one of the injured workers became trapped beneath a fallen concrete slab following the collapse.
Bystanders and local residents rushed to the scene and managed to rescue the trapped worker from the debris before both injured men were admitted to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Preliminary police investigations revealed that a protruding concrete section on the second floor of the building had broken off and fallen, leading to the accident.
