Iranians intend ‘keep control’ over the Strait of Hormuz

Iran is simply saying there are no international waters in the Strait of Hormuz.

It is just Iranian and Omani territorial waters, and that is why they firmly believe that the strait must be managed by these two countries.

We know there have been two rounds of technical talks between Tehran and Muscat.

However, publicly, the Omani side still recognises the strategic waterway as an international one.

But the Iranians are quite consistent when they say it is not.

Thus, they say that even if there is a peace settlement, Iranians will keep control of the Strait of Hormuz. This is now the main source of tension between the warring parties.
