According to the DMC, the districts impacted by the severe weather include Ratnapura District, Galle District, Monaragala District, Batticaloa District, Kalutara District, Colombo District and Puttalam District.
Authorities also confirmed that one death has been reported from the Batticaloa area as a result of the ongoing adverse weather conditions.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall and strong winds have caused partial damage to 88 houses in the affected regions.
The DMC further stated that 1,310 individuals have been relocated to safer locations as precautionary measures.
At present, 489 families are being accommodated at temporary relief centres established in the Puttalam, Kalutara and Ratnapura districts.
