Air Force spokesperson Group Captain Nalin Vavakumbura confirmed that emergency response teams and helicopters are on standby for immediate deployment if disaster situations escalate due to heavy rainfall.
According to the Air Force, rapid action will be taken once the Disaster Management Centre issues notifications regarding displaced persons or weather-related emergencies. The move is part of a coordinated national effort aimed at protecting civilians and minimizing the impact of natural disasters.
To strengthen emergency response capabilities, the Air Force has prepared Bell 412 and Bell 212 helicopters for rescue and relief missions. These aircraft are equipped to carry out evacuations, transport emergency personnel, and deliver essential supplies to affected areas.
